  • Nambe Pueblo Teen Center | Buffalo Design

Nambe Pueblo Teen Center < Back Nambe Pueblo Teen Center Amidst the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, our attention was drawn to a significant project in November 2020 – the creation of a dynamic Teen Center. The task of designing this facility presented numerous obstacles that demanded exploration through several iterations before reaching the final design. Throughout the process, the fluctuating construction costs necessitated constant vigilance and adaptability. We meticulously considered various materials, including wood, steel, metal building, and hybrid options, in order to achieve the most optimal outcome. The Teen Center project, with its unique purpose and youthful energy, stirred our team to approach it with utmost dedication and perseverance. As we navigated through the complexities, we found gratifying solutions that resulted in a predominantly wood hybrid design, perfectly tailored to meet the needs of the young community it will serve. In spite of the formidable challenges faced, the journey to create this Teen Center became a testament to our team's resilience and ingenuity. The final result is a space that promises to empower and inspire teenagers, providing them with a safe, vibrant, and welcoming environment to nurture their passions, creativity, and growth. This Multi-Purpose building is a one-story 8,758sf Health and Wellness Building including a 5,800sf full size gymnasium with integral volleyball court, and spectator seating. Also included in the project are Concessions located off a large waiting area as well as a meeting room for community functions. This project was designed as a campus extension to the Ohkay Owingeh Community School, also designed by our office and completed in 2015. • San Felipe Master Plan | Buffalo Design

San Felipe Master Plan < Back San Felipe Master Plan The San Felipe Exit 252 Master Plan was developed to establish a framework for development of the 70-acre parcel of land that currently includes the Black Mesa Casino and Travel Center and Pueblo Restaurant. Recent developments including the re-branding of the casino, addition of the trucker’s lounge at the travel center and the demolition of the old racetrack has set the stage for the much-needed plan for the long-term development of the site. The primary goal was to create an “achievable plan” that included zones for future development. This master plan, while setting the stage for future development, is none the less a living document. The plan must be continually reviewed and updated as circumstances that influence the decisions made at this time may change in the future. The purpose of any master planning effort is to provide design guidelines for future development. This includes not only the physical planning and layout of the building but also the desired design criteria and standards that must be adhered to. Just as the building program provides specific sizes, and relationship of various spaces so to must the building performance criteria give specific requirements for each of the components used in the construction of the built forms.
