Larry Anderson

Larry grew up in Mandan (fighting Braves), North Dakota and graduated from North Dakota State University (mighty Bison) in Fargo with a bachelor’s 5-year degree in architecture. Upon graduation, he was given the opportunity to work for a small firm in his hometown. Larry took on a great deal of responsibility and received a strong foundation for architecture through this experience. After 15 years he desired to gain experience on larger projects with larger firms in a more urban setting. He and his wife moved to Portland, Oregon and found the opportunity quite rewarding. About 25 years ago, a significant gaming and hospitality project presented itself in New Mexico. Larry answered the call and ever since he and his wife have called Albuquerque home.

Throughout Larry’s career he has always had an affinity to the Native culture and over the years has worked for many native and non-native firms that worked in Indian Country. 12 years ago in January 2014, Larry and his partner started Buffalo Design Architects. They felt a need to provide Native Tribes with quality design and construction, gaining a reputation for being fair, reasonable, and giving the client value and satisfaction in the process. Quality design and collaboration being the key ingredients to any successful project and the Owner being paramount to the project’s success. BDA’s mantra from day one has been to provide diversity of culture | people | place both externally and internally.

Larry has more than 40 years’ experience as an architect. He has worked on a wide variety of projects including educational, commercial, office, hospitality, gaming, government, health care, judicial, etc., earning valuable experience dealing with all aspects of the architectural and construction process He is a team player who believes in progressive, responsive architecture and project management. Larry has been working with Native American clients for most of his professional career. He truly enjoys working in Indian Country and receives great satisfaction seeing projects successfully completed and dreams realized.
