Dine College Ned Hatathli Center Additions & Renovation < Back Dine College Ned Hatathli Center Additions & Renovation The Ned Hatathli Center, a prominent seven-story high-rise situated at the heart of Dine's College campus in Tsaile, Arizona, has long been an iconic symbol of the institution. Given the historical importance of both the building and the college itself, a meticulous and sensitive approach was required to address its structural issues and undertake planned interior remodels. Over the years, the Ned Hatathli Center has faced substantial structural shifting and cracking due to the instability of the underlying soil conditions. These conditions have not only affected the building's integrity but have also caused visible defects in elements such as the curtain wall system and the first-level floor. Our comprehensive scope of work includes an assessment of the structural framework and the underlying soil conditions supporting the Center, as well as an examination of the curtain wall construction and the factors contributing to discoloration, cracking, and moisture infiltration. In addition to addressing these critical structural concerns, our project encompasses a thoughtful approach to interior remodels. These remodels will include the creation of a welcoming café, modern classrooms, and a culturally significant hall. The café will serve as a gathering space, fostering a sense of community among students and faculty. The classrooms will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and ergonomic design to enhance the learning experience. The cultural hall, designed with the rich heritage of the Dine people in mind, will provide a dedicated space for cultural events, celebrations, and gatherings. Previous attempts at repairs and deferred maintenance have only exacerbated issues, resulting in additional problems such as leaks, settling, and further deterioration. Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Entrepreneur Complex < Back Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Entrepreneur Complex Originally this project was scheduled to be a stand-alone building just East of the Maker Space 2 project located on the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center campus. The IPCC asked us to re-design the interior of Maker Space 2 (which had not yet started construction) to host the commercial kitchen project. Along with the stakeholders, the design team has worked diligently to re-work the interiors to accommodate a space that will function as a hub for food service operations for the 19 Pueblos. Designed to accommodate a Farm-to-Table approach this facility will have capacity for “Rough Prep” and “High Volume Production”. There will also be multiple cooking lines for “Catering” and “Meal Preparation”. Along with a large demonstration Kitchen, this project should provide all the means necessary to facilitate any and all services for the cultural advancement, education, interpretation, and overall experience of native cooking and traditions. Peralta Community & Senior Center < Back Peralta Community & Senior Center The community facility includes a spacious gymnasium with a full-size volleyball court, spectator seating on both sides, and an elevated stage. This stage is versatile for ceremonies, plays, movies, weddings, and more. It connects to an outdoor stage via a glass door, linking indoor and outdoor activities with the adjacent Peralta Community Park. Adjacent to the gym, there are (2) exercise rooms, dance studios, and a large open weight room. A pre-function lobby manages traffic during events. A well-equipped commercial kitchen serves as concession or a ghost kitchen. An administration wing caters to staff, and a 3,500 sq ft Youth Center offers space for after-school programs and events. First Nations Community HealthSource Clinic Addition < Back First Nations Community HealthSource Clinic Addition First Nations Community HealthSource is a nonprofit health clinic to more than 10,000 community members in southeastern Albuquerque. Designated as a community health center and health care for the homeless clinic. FNCH is also New Mexico’s urban Indian health center. FNCH’s mission is to provide a comprehensive and culturally appropriate health delivery system that addresses the mental, social, spiritual, and physical needs of urban Indians and other under-served populations in Albuquerque and the surrounding area. FNCH provides comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, Traditional Healing, and a host of support services to assist individuals with their basic needs. This project is specific to FNCH’s proposed Health Infrastructure Program project and will construct a two-story 4,304 square foot addition onto its main health center facility and a 528 square foot addition onto its dental clinic located at the same physical location that will allow FNCH to add two more dental operatories. The new addition and renovation is 6,900 square feet integrates with the existing, but completely renovated Chapter House, as well as the new outdoor entries and courtyards. Exterior patios are now an extension of the main meeting hall to welcome large gathering functions, flowing from the interior to the exterior. Cultural elements were included throughout to pay tribute to the tradition and culture of the Navajo Nation. Adhering to Navajo design principles, the St. Michael’s Chapter House Addition/Renovation features the \"chaha’oh\" inspired shade structures at the main entries. It pays tribute to the Hero Twins and honors Navajo veterans with an outdoor fireplace and courtyard. The convenience store has a variety of spaces for cold and hot, self-serve, food as well as 1,000 square feet of rentable space for a food vendor. The main interior space features clerestory windows that let in natural light throughout the day. This reduces the overall energy costs and consumption for artificial lighting. The exterior of the building is a mountain rustic style. This style is popular to this region. This style features gable roofs, heavy timber structures, stone, wood, and metal roofing. Isleta Pueblo Administration Building < Back Isleta Pueblo Administration Building The Schematic Design phase of this project has been successfully completed. However, due to the impact of COVID, its progress is currently on hold. Once operational, the facility will serve as a centralized hub for all Pueblo Administrative staff, streamlining various departments under one roof. As the administrative functions are currently scattered across the Pueblo, this facility aims to bring together essential departments, including Transportation, Design & Construction, Survey & Mapping, Environment, Public Works, Natural Resources, Procurement, Treasury, Human Resources, Water Resources, and Isleta Pueblo Housing Authority. This consolidation will significantly benefit the Pueblo community by enhancing accessibility and convenience for administrative services. The planned facility also includes a spacious training room designed to double as an Emergency Operation Center when needed. This multi-purpose space ensures the Pueblo is prepared to respond effectively to any emergency situation that may arise. Although the project is currently on hold, the completion of the Schematic Design phase marks a promising step towards creating a highly functional and efficient administrative center for the Pueblo.
